Meet Karen
My Background
Karen Higman, Principal of SBS Fund Counsel LLC, has 30 years of experience as a senior-level advancement professional in the fields of education, health care, and human service. She has done it all--from comprehensive campaigns and feasibility studies to annual fund and grant writing. Karen has led three capital campaigns and served on the senior staff at St. John Fisher College, the YMCA of Greater Rochester, and Allendale Columbia School. She was also Annual Fund Director at the University of Rochester Medical Center serving both Strong Memorial Hospital and the School of Medicine and Dentistry.
Karen is an active community volunteer and proud recipient of the AFP of Genesee Valley's highest honor, The Robert Clinger Outstanding Fundraising Professional Award.

My mission is to help nonprofit organizations develop and sustain a successful fundraising strategy. My vision is to assist clients in creating and growing a culture of engagement within their organizations so they can better fulfill their mission. My value proposition is simple:
